The Drop

It comes in waves,
This turn of the season

Light becomes dark,
Warmth becomes a chill

From your fingertips inwards,
The grey cold seeps

And then it drops,
The sledgehammer,
Melancholy

Seduction

When I saw her first, she looked like a woman,
Worn and a bit weathered,
But also alive,
That spark of madness twinkling in her eye

Gallivanting through the city,
She splashed her stories and colour and mirth everywhere,
Scary, infectious and seductive

As the sun went down,
The evening enveloped us,
A nip in the air,
And music that stirs from within

In a haze of peppermint smoke,
Smiles of wonder were exchanged,
We marveled at this, a comfort in the unknown,
Scary, infectious and seductive

As the layers started peeling away,
The woman suddenly turned into a girl,
Shy, innocent and afraid,
But also alive,
That spark of adventure twinkling in her eye

"I like being here" he said,
Feeling the warmth of her skin on his,
And she just moaned a smile in reply,
Scary, infectious and seductive

Memories

We are but a speck,
Consumed in our own fury,
Yet with all its unimaginable strength,
The Ocean Remembers

Thoughts of Rage and Conflict,
And the inconsequence of our very being,
Yet completely at its own peace,
The Ocean Remembers

That consciousness is the only truth,
Universal and Absolute,
The choice that was made and must be followed through,
The Ocean Remembers

In its infinite wisdom,
And its unfathomable depths,
The Ocean Remembers
That we are it and it is us,
Raw, Pure, Temperamental and Divine,
The Ocean Remembers

The Ocean Remembers

Three Little Words

She said it to him first,
Those three little words,
And like all those scorched before,
He was scared,

But seasons passed in warmth,
His heart bloomed again,
Till one day those words,
Became his truth again,

When he gently let it out,
A smile twinkled in her eyes,
Bliss and rapture followed,
That comfort of the effortless,

Then come adversity,
The bane of the unsure,
And in a flash,
She was gone,

Looking back at it now,
He should have known,
She did not lie,
When she said those words,

She just never knew what they meant to him,
She just doesn't know what they meant at all.

The One That Got Away

That song reminds me of her
Gin tonic and pipe smoke reminds me of them

Sushi reminds me of her
Spin the bottle reminds me of them

Looking up at the night sky reminds me of her
Drunken walks home remind me of them

Old bicycles remind me of her
The fountain in the piazza reminds me of them

Japanese drums remind me of her
Late night sandwiches remind me of them

Crazy hats remind me of her
Afternoon wine reminds me of them

Rainy nights remind me of her
Dancing till 3am reminds me of them

The pictures on my camera remind me of her
That one last hug that should have been a kiss….

Cheese and pancetta, tomatoes and rucola,
Philadelphia and bread, Malibu and pineapple
Rivers of beer and wine, gelato in the summers,
Every moment here I am reminded of her, them, then and there.

Italia! The place, the people, the time,
You seem now like the one that got away….

Wonder

Intoxicated,
A late night walk,
Under shadows and mist

With barely a light,
Into the abyss we descend
Stumbling in the dark,
Stone steps and dust

All at once the light is gone,
Frozen in place
Frozen in pitch black

And then in the distance,
A twinkle
A trick of the mind?

Above our heads, Behold!
An infinite shimmering galaxy

Fireflies...

Blue

Black mountains,
Black sand

Blue above,
Blue below

Like puffs of cotton,
The clouds

Waves crash in the distance,
Yet the water is still, like glass

A gentle ripple,
Dainty feet

Long brown hair,
A gentle flick

A loving smile,
For me

Across all distances,
YOU are here………
